What is Virgin Media Business broadband?
Virgin Media Broadband caters for a wide range of business customers from small and medium businesses to enterprise businesses of more than 250 people, as well as public sector organisations. As you’d expect from Virgin Media, there are ultrafast speeds on offer as there are to Virgin’s residential customers. These speeds are backed up by dedicated technical support, 4G Back-Up and more.
As well as broadband packages, Virgin Media Business can also provide its customers with leased lines, VPNs, multiple types of business phone lines and business mobile plans.
What does Virgin Media Business broadband offer?
Virgin Media Business, rather like the provider’s residential provision, only offers ultrafast broadband speeds. The most basic package offered by Virgin Media Business gives you download speeds of up to 400Mbps and upload speeds of up to 40Mbps with other noteworthy features, such as a dynamic IP address.
You can add extras such as a mobile SIM or business phone line but there’s no option to add Virgin TV to your package, as you can when getting Virgin Media for your home.
- Ultrafast broadband – There are four Voom fibre broadband packages, with the lowest plan offering download speeds of up to 400Mbps.The more expensive the package, the faster the upload speeds, the more static IP address you can have, and the faster the guaranteed resolution time for any problem you might have
- Phone – Virgin has a wide range of phone systems available including traditional fixed lines, Voice over IP (VoIP) systems and ISDN lines
- Business mobile SIMs and phones – Business customers benefit from the same flexible and reasonably priced mobile deals as Virgin’s residential mobile customers. There are 24 and 36-month contracts available on handsets including the latest iPhones and Samsung Galaxys, as well as 12-month and 30-day rolling contracts for SIMs
- Leased lines – Bigger companies may want to invest in a leased line, which provides dedicated internet access to your building via an ethernet cable. Virgin has a range of symmetrical leased lines (meaning you get the same upload and download speed)
- VPNs – VPNs (virtual private networks) allow you to share data and files securely across multiple sites, perfect if you have people working in separate locations but needing to access the same intranet. Virgin offers a number of managed options
The top package, Voom Gig1, offers download speeds up to 1000Mbps, upload speeds up to 50Mbps, up to five static IP addresses, and a guaranteed resolution time of 12 working hours.
Virgin Media Business landline packages and extras
Virgin Media Business’s phone services are delivered over its broadband lines, so it makes sense to take broadband at the same time, as you’ll need a Virgin line installed anyway.
A standard landline package including unlimited UK calls, last number announcement, call display, call hold, line identification, 24/7 support and Service Level Agreement.
Optional extras
There are a number of extras you can add for an additional monthly fee. These are grouped into three extras packages – right-place calls, manage incoming calls and manage outgoing calls.
Features include the option to divert calls to a different number, anonymous call rejection, call waiting, last number redial, and multi-party calling.
Free voicemail
Voicemail is classed as an optional extra but there’s no additional fee involved. This includes diverting calls to voicemail if you’re on another line and a ‘message waiting’ indicator’ that alerts you when you have a new message.
Why choose Virgin Media Business broadband?
Virgin Media has a reputation as the fastest and one of the most reliable widely-available broadband providers in the UK. Its business offering is built on the same infrastructure so you get ultrafast broadband as standard plus a load of other features that allow you to build the combination that fits your business.
- VoIP – VoIP is voice communication delivered over the internet. Virgin’s cloud-based phone technologies can facilitate this and future-proof your business
- Static IP address – Most broadband packages come with a dynamic IP address but if you want to run your own server then you’ll need a static one. Three of Virgin Media Business’s broadband packages include at least one static IP address, with the highest offering five. However, if you surpass the limit, you can add more static IP addresses for a fee.
- 4G Start-Up – This gets your business online instantly while you wait for your installation. It includes unlimited data per month with the option of adding more as you need it
- 4G Back-Up – Acts as a failsafe should your broadband ever let you down. Simply plug the 4G dongle into your Hub and carry on. This will automatically alert Virgin to the fact there’s an issue so they’ll start investigating. In the meantime you’ll have an unlimited data allowance to get you through
- Ultrafast broadband on a budget – Virgin’s Essential Business Internet package gives you download speeds up to 100Mbps for less than its standard Voom packages. There’s no Service Level Agreement but you do get a decent 10Mbps upload speed
- 5G – Virgin Media uses the EE network to deliver its mobile services, and EE offers 5G connection to over 50% of the UK and counting. Virgin can get you set up with 5G-ready phones to take advantage of the latest generation of mobile technology when it reaches you
- Bespoke solutions – Virgin Media has a range of technologies and infrastructure options to suit local authorities, schools, universities, health and social care organisations and more
- Data sharing SIM plans – Because you don’t always need one business mobile per person, Virgin gives you the option of sharing data between multiple people and devices. For example, you could have five people sharing three handsets and 50GB of data. As it’s Virgin, you also get data-free messaging on Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp
